DCL Associates was founded by David C. Lehman, CFPIM CIRM CSCP in 1990 and is active as its Managing Director. Dave is a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and currently resides in Greensboro, North Carolina. He graduated with a BS in Mathematics and Physical Science from Slippery Rock State College with additional graduate studies in Mathematics at Indiana State University of Pennsylvania. Continuing professional education has included programs at Duquesne University, in-house leadership and management programs at Westinghouse, GTE and Konica, American Management Association programs, APICS courses, Oliver Wight Seminars, and numerous other external seminars. He has received the following designations from APICS The Association for Operations Management: Certified Fellow in Production and Inventory Management, Certified in Integrated Resource Management, and Certified Supply Chain Professional. In addition he has been certified as a Lean Six-Sigma Green Belt practitioner. He is a graduate of the US Army’s Infantry Officer Candidate School and is retired from the reserves after a 27-year career as an enlisted man and officer. His final military assignment was as the Executive Officer of the 479the Field Artillery Brigade.
Dave’s career began as a teacher of Mathematics and coach of Soccer, Basketball and Football. He then went into industry with Westinghouse Electric Corporation with positions as Industrial Engineer, Foreman, and Unit Manager. His next assignment was as Manufacturing Manager for the GTE Products Corporation - Gibson Electric Division. He also held assignments as an SBU General Manager and Division General Manager of Manufacturing for the GTE Technical Products Division. For his next assignment he accepted the position of Senior Director of Materials, Logistics, Planning, and Production for Konica Manufacturing U.S.A., Inc. In July 1990, Dave struck out on his own as the founder and Managing Director of DCL Associates, Inc., a management consulting firm focusing on people development and organizational/operational success.
During his tenure here at DCL Associates, the assignments have been varied including two full-time management assignments, a two-year engagement as VP and GM of New Filcas of America, Inc., and a 2½ year engagement as President and COO for P&M Ceramic Tile, Inc. In addition, he was President and General Manager of Camille-Douglas, Inc., a family-owned commercial printing business he inherited, from 1996 to 1998. Dave has also taught a number of programs for Guilford, Forsyth, Randolph, Rockingham, Danville, and Patrick Henry Community Colleges. Currently he is heavily involved in facilitating a wide variety of leadership and development programs including the APICS Fundamentals, CPIM, and CSCP programs, GTCC programs and courses in addition to working with clients on operational improvement projects leading to improved results.
Active in community, professional and national organizations such as: Board member for local branches of the YMCA in Pittsburgh and Greensboro, Deputy Commander of the Pennsylvania Civil Air Patrol Wing, member of Greensboro Rotary Club, volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, Appalachian Service Project and APICS The Association of Operations Management. Selected as the Piedmont Triad Chapter of APICS Member of the Year for 1993-94 and 2003-04, as well as for the Excellence in Education Leadership Award for 1998-99, he has served on the Board of Directors for a number of years in a variety of positions including a term as President in 2000-01. His firm DCL Associates, Inc. was presented the Piedmont Triad Chapter Company of the Year Award for 2006-07 in recognition of the support provided to the chapter. Currently he is Treasurer and Education Registrar for the Chapter and has served on the APICS Fundamentals committee as well as participating in the CSCP exam item writing workshop.
